Senior Project Officer Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus superannuation) Part-time position - 0.6 FTE (22.8 hours / 3 days per week) Fixed term position to (30 June 2027) Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne VIC 3000 (flexibility may be available) The Role We are seeking a motivated Senior Project Officer to manage the contract between Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV) and the operator of the Bundha Sports Centre (BSC) and provide oversight of key contract service requirements, performance objectives, and reporting obligations. The Senior Project Officer will establish and maintain a strong collaborative partnership with the operator and engage key stakeholders across State and Local Government to ensure service provision at the BSC meet State Government objectives and the expectations and needs of the broader community. This position will play a role in supporting the Department of Education's monitoring and oversight of the operator's asset management obligations as outlined in the Lease with the Minister for Education. This position will also provide support to other community sports infrastructure matters as required, including precinct planning and grant assessments. Main accountabilities : Lead and maintain a strong relationship with the facility operator to ensure contract and performance obligations are met, working collaboratively with them to monitor and address risks and issues. Lead and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders including the Department of Education, Yarra City Council and broader community sport stakeholders to ensure service provision at the Bundha Sports Centre meets the objectives of the State Government and the expectations and needs of the community. Monitor contract specifications, provide oversight of financial performance and budgets, and manage governance structures to ensure effective contract management. Review, analyse and assess reports prepared by the facility operator to ensure contract requirements are being met and identify emerging issues. Provide authoritative high-level community sport and active recreation infrastructure development and planning advice to internal and external stakeholders, prepare and present detailed issues papers, reports, ministerial briefs, correspondence, and agency submissions on complex matters. Provide support and advice on other community sport infrastructure matters as required including precinct planning and grant assessments. The Team This position of Senior Project Officer forms a part of the Sport and Recreation Victoria Branch, which sits under Sport and Experience Economy Group. Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) Group delivers programs and initiatives to support positive experiences and a sense of belonging through sport, tourism, events and outdoor recreation – sectors that make Victoria a recognised leader from the grassroots level to the international stage and deliver significant economic, social and health benefits for the state. This is achieved by supporting the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events, the Minister for Outdoor Recreation and the Minister for Community Sport in the delivery of sport and tourism infrastructure, and through programs and policies that strengthen the capacity of sport and experience economy organisations, reduce barriers to participation and engagement, support world-class events, and reinforce the role that vibrant sport and experience economy sectors play in growing the Victorian economy, supporting jobs and building stronger communities. We also oversee regulation of the State's hunting, fishing, boating sectors, and support the Professional Boxing and Combat Sports Board in the regulation of professional boxing and combat sports. About You To be successful in this role, you will have the following main skills and experience: Contract Management : understands contract details and the requirements and obligations of parties under the agreements. Establishes and maintains governance structures required to actively manage the contracts. Monitors service delivery against contract specifications to identify risks and issues and resolve problems collaboratively with stakeholders where these arise. Stakeholder Management : builds and leads strong working relationships with a range of key stakeholders. Understands the competing needs of different internal and external to Government stakeholders. Utilises strong working relationships and practical solutions to resolve stakeholder risks and issues. Liaises regularly with stakeholders to establish and maintain strong relationships. Verbal and Written Communication : prepares written materials using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; ensures written communications contain necessary information to achieve their purpose. Confidently conveys ideas and information in a clear and concise way; clearly understands the target audience and the objectives of the communication; uses audience feedback to refine communication and ensure communications are understood; handles difficult and sensitive communications well. Commercial Skills : uses commercial and financial acumen to read and interpret financial reports and budgets to monitor financial performance and obligations.
