The Opportunity
As a Project Officer, you will work with energetic team members and provide high level timely and accurate project management and administration support and advice to staff within Crop and Food Science, and to the functional areas within the Science Operations team. You will have sound knowledge of relevant practices to ensure compliance with current legislation, policies, procedures and standards.
As our Project Officer, you will:
* Provide high level timely and accurate project management and administration support and advice to staff within Crop and Food Science, and to the functional areas within the Science Operations team.
* Maintain sound knowledge of relevant practices to ensure currency of knowledge and skills and to ensure compliance with current legislation and whole-of government and departmental policies, procedures and standards.
* Undertake procurement activities in line with departmental policies and procedures, including providing operational advice in relation to engagement of labour hire contractors within the framework of current legislation, policies and procedures.
* Monitor, analyse and evaluate revenue and expenditure (taking corrective action when required) to ensure effective and responsible financial management.
* Assist in the development and maintenance of the financial and project management aspects of contracts. This includes the preparation and monitoring of milestone invoices, collaborator payments and all other revenues and expenses associated with these agreements.
* Assist in the preparation of reports and documentation across the functional areas of the Science Operations Team including HR.
* Maintain high level communication and interpersonal skills, relate well to people at all levels, use diplomacy and tact, and use sound judgement on sensitive and confidential issues.
* Liaise and support the Senior Finance Officer and Senior HR Business Partner ensuring high quality services and advice across a range of Finance, Procurement and HR activities.
Technical Requirements of the Role:

Mandatory requirements
* It is a mandatory requirement of the role that the successful candidate will attain or possess a procurement certification.
* A current 'C' class drivers licence would be advantageous.
