We are currently seeking an experienced Project Technical Lead to oversee the technical readiness and systems engineering delivery for a major Air Traffic Control (ATC) tower refurbishment project on Hamilton Island.
This project will deliver a full refurbishment over the next 12 months, spanning civil infrastructure, technical systems, and mobile ATC components. This role sits within the technical workstream and will play a critical part in ensuring the safe, robust, and reliable operation of recent systems supporting air traffic services.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Act as the Single Point of Contact for all technical matters related to the ATC tower project.
- Provide technical leadership and systems engineering oversight throughout the SDLC and system management lifecycle.
- Manage engineering review gates and coordinate third-party participation.
- Oversee site installation, testing, verification, and validation activities.
- Develop and maintain key project documentation, including Systems Engineering Management Plans (SEMP) and Test and Evaluation Management Plans (TEMP)
- Identify, manage, and track technical risks, ensuring mitigation strategies are in place.
- Ensure all technical deliverables align with safety, security, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Skills & Experience We Are Seeking
- A degree in Engineering or Information Technology from an Australian tertiary institution (or certified equivalent).
- Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer in a relevant discipline (e.g., RPEQ).
- Proven experience applying Systems Engineering practices across the SDLC and system management processes
- Experience in the design, development, testing, and implementation of robust and reliable software systems.
- Strong experience in stakeholder and vendor management, with the ability to engage and influence at all levels.
- Excellent documentation skills, including preparing and reviewing solution architecture and system design documents aligned to enterprise strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and operate as a senior member of a dynamic, outcome-focused team with minimal supervision.
