Position Overview
The
Commercial Quality Director
at Permobil is the regional leader responsible for ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction after products enter the market. This role bridges Quality, Commercial, Supply Chain, and Regulatory teams to strengthen the customer experience, ensure compliant distribution operations, and drive continuous improvement based on post-market insights.
This leader oversees regional post-market quality systems and distribution quality compliance – including complaint handling, vigilance, field actions, post-market surveillance, and quality oversight of distribution centers, importers, warehouses, and third-party logistics (3PLs).
This role reports directly to the EVP of Quality & Regulatory and serves as a business partner, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Regional President.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the voice of Quality, influence stakeholders, resolve customer complaints, represent Quality in key interactions, and champion a culture of compliance,
* Lead complaint handling, vigilance reporting, and field corrective actions; manage post-market surveillance, trend analysis, risk evaluation, and drive improvements through cross-functional collaboration,
* Oversee quality in distribution centers, warehouses, importers, and 3PLs; manage finished goods, labeling, import/export compliance, and Quality Agreements; ensure traceability and documentation with Supply Chain and Regulatory Affairs,
* Maintain compliance with medical device regulations; lead/support inspections, audits, field actions, recalls, and regulatory reporting,
* Coordinate with Regulatory Affairs and Legal Manufacturers for product introductions, market access, facility registrations, and quality system certifications,
* Use data and KPIs to monitor performance, reduce risk, harmonize processes, and develop team capability and overall quality culture.
Skills And Qualifications
* A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Life Sciences or related discipline (an MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred),
* 10+ years in Quality, Regulatory, or Post-Market functions within the medical device or med-tech industry,
* Experience overseeing distribution, warehousing, import/export, and 3PL quality agreements,
* Strong working knowledge of FDA, EU MDR, ISO 13485, and MDSAP requirements,
* Proven ability to influence across matrixed global teams and collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, Supply Chain, and R&D,
* Passionate advocate for patients and product quality,
* Strategic, analytical, and customer-focused,
* Strong communicator and relationship builder,
* Able to balance business objectives with regulatory and ethical responsibilities.
