Role Summary
The Infrastructure team is comprised of experienced professionals working across offices in Sydney, Toronto, London, New York, Sao Paulo, and Mumbai. The team seeks to invest in a diversified portfolio of assets in critical sectors that provide essential services and promote economic growth and sustainability. Our focus areas include digital and telecoms (e.g., data centres, fibre, towers), energy infrastructure (e.g., electricity and gas transmission assets, storage, regulated utilities, EV charging), transport (movement of goods and people, e.g., toll roads, ports, rail and airports), water and wastewater, as well as circular economy. The Infrastructure portfolio (C$62 billion as at 31 March 2025) comprises numerous active direct investments spread across markets including Australia, Canada, UK, USA, Europe, Latin America, India, Japan, South Korea and Indonesia. We are seeking a high‐performing individual, based in Sydney, to support our continued future growth.
Reporting to the Managing Director – Asia Pacific, the Analyst / Associate will be part of a team primarily covering infrastructure in Australia and other markets in the Asia Pacific region (ex. India), and may also be involved in investments in other regions, playing a key role in making and managing infrastructure investments around the world on a principal basis. The Analyst / Associate supports senior team members in evaluating potential infrastructure investment opportunities, conducting research, developing recommendations, participating in the negotiation and execution of investments and monitoring and managing investments.
Accountabilities & Qualifications
Core Accountabilities
Investment & Sector Screening
* Compile infrastructure industry, market and asset‐level operational and financial data to support research
* Perform fundamental infrastructure sector and asset‐level analysis and present clear, commercial insights to the broader team and infrastructure group
* Build and maintain financial models and perform valuation analyses; including scenario, sensitivity and comparative analysis to support investment decisions
* Proactively identify and evaluate potential investment themes and opportunities, contributing to sector strategy discussions
Investment Diligence & Deal Execution
* Assist in the preparation and presentation of Investment Committee memos demonstrating strong written skills and clear articulation of investment theses and risks
* Support, and at Associate level, coordinate discrete diligence workstreams and adviser relationships, through rigorous analysis and coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors, as required
* Contribute to negotiation materials and transaction documentation review, as appropriate
Asset & Portfolio Management
* Assist in the preparation and presentation of ongoing and ad‐hoc investment performance reporting
* Monitor ongoing financial and operational performance of existing APAC (ex. India) infrastructure portfolio assets
* Support transition of new assets into the CPPIB infrastructure portfolio by identifying benchmarks, building financial models and providing rigorous onboarding and project management support
* Engage with management teams and operating partners to track value creation initiatives and support portfolio company oversight
Core Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
* Advanced degree or certification (CFA) is an asset
* 2‐5 years of relevant work experience (lower end considered for Analyst level, greater experience for Associate level)
* Strong research, analytical, financial modeling, valuation, problem‐solving skills and ability to think creatively
* Advanced computer/technical skills – MS Excel, MS PowerPoint
* Solid verbal and written communication skills
* Demonstrated ability to manage workstreams independently and collaborate effectively
