Primary objective
The role is responsible for the delivery of a range of assigned Capital Works, Minor Works and Maintenance projects front Government
agencies in the Darwin region and provides technical and project management advice and assistance in relation to projects and contracts
being managed.
Context statement
The Maintenance branch is responsible for the delivery of the NT Government urgent repairs and cyclical maintenance program on behalf
of agencies; including managing period and panel contracts for maintaining building assets; the emergency and disaster management
response for built infrastructure in the northern region and supporting regional offices to deliver infrastructure works and asset
maintenance
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Manage all phases of allocated trade-based project delivery and contract management and provide high level assistance and advice on
project and contract related matters.
1. Attend project sites and meetings with stakeholders.
2. Recommend, implement, and administer appropriate construction contracts and provide regular reporting of project status.
3. Assess resources/skills needed for the delivery of projects and build and maintain excellent stakeholder relationships.
4. Ensure projects meet the requirements of the Building Act 1993, Construction Code and Australian Standards as applied in the Northern
Territory (NT).
6. Carry out all duties in accordance with departmental Work Health and Safety, Equal Employment Opportunity, and environmental
guidelines.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A trade qualification related to the position's area of specialisation (Electrical) or equivalent experience directly relevant to the position.
2. A current "A" grade Electrical Mechanics licence issued by the NT Electrical Workers and Contractors Licensing Board, or ability to
quickly obtain the licence.
3. Strong current technical knowledge and extensive experience in the Construction Code, relevant to the area of specialisation, relating
to the delivery of infrastructure projects in a client focussed, cross-cultural environment.
1. Substantial knowledge and experience in building project and contract management, including assessing and managing human and
financial resources, with broad knowledge and experience in procurement, contract conditions and interpretation of legislation.
5. Knowledge of project reporting and processes in planning, implementing and evaluating projects, with well-developed information
technology knowledge and skills including Microsoft Office based software, project management tools and mainframe systems.
1. Good understanding of factors that may impact on project outcomes for the relevant agency and ability to ensure functional briefs are
understood and match agency requirements.
7. Effective oral and written communication and negotiation and problem-solving ability.
8. Ability to manage pressure and change, analyse risk, apply discretion, initiative, confidentiality and adaptability, and meet deadlines.
1. Current NT Drivers licence or ability to obtain.
Desirable
1. High-level experience in fire and/or communications and networking systems.
