As a Financial Capability Case Worker –Food and Financial Assistance program based in Orange NSW you will be supporting Clients across both Central West and New England Northwest Regions in NSW and is key to our mission to enrich lives and strengthen communities. Your opportunity
Are you passionate about helping people build financial stability and confidence?
As a Financial Capability Case Worker, you will provide short‑term, trauma‑informed case work to individuals and families experiencing financial hardship. You'll co‑develop clear case plans with clients, advocate on their behalf, connect them to the right local supports, and build practical financial literacy skills through 1 : 1 coaching (budgeting, identifying spending leaks, needs vs wants, and reading financial statements). You'll collaborate closely with other Anglicare programs and community partners to achieve the best outcomes.
With integrity and resilience, you will :
* Create a welcoming, safe environment that demonstrates empathy and compassion.
* Co‑develop holistic case plans with clearly defined goals, actionable steps and achievable outcomes.
* Assess complex cases (often involving multiple issues) and consult with Program / Regional Managers on higher‑risk matters.
* Advocate for clients and coordinate timely, accurate referrals through strong local networks.
* Deliver 1 : 1 financial capability coaching (budgeting, spending analysis, needs vs wants, financial statements).
* Provide material aid aligned to case plans and FFA procedures.
* Manage a full caseload and meet program targets within funding guidelines and organisational procedures.
What you'll bring
Are you a compassionate, organised and collaborative professional who thrives in a dynamic, client‑centred environment. You bring strong people skills, sound judgement and a commitment to continuous improvement.
You will also need :
* Qualifications : Diploma in social work / community services / customer service in a community setting (or working towards), or relevant experience with lesser formal qualifications.
* Experience : 1–2 years supporting clients with complex needs, including those in distress or agitation; proven ability to prioritise multiple competing demands.
* Skills : High computer literacy and database management; strong organisation and time management; excellent interpersonal and written communication; conflict resolution and problem‑solving; ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to change.
* Capability : Experience supporting people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and those impacted by domestic violence and mental health.
* Compliance : Current Working with Children Check and Police Check.
