The General Manager – Built Infrastructure leads the planning, delivery, and management of infrastructure programs across the Northern Territory, supporting multiple government agencies. This senior leadership role is central to shaping sustainable, compliant, and future-focused infrastructure outcomes in both urban centres and remote communities.

The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure works with the community, business and government partners to regulate, construct, maintain and invest in integrated sustainable infrastructure, developments and services across the Territory.
About the Role
As General Manager – Built Infrastructure, you will lead the delivery of infrastructure programs across Greater Darwin, the Top End, and support projects throughout the Northern Territory. You’ll oversee planning, design, procurement, and construction for multiple government agencies, ensuring projects meet statutory, safety, and sustainability standards while balancing tight budgets and resource constraints.
This senior leadership role involves managing consultants and contracts, guiding infrastructure planning and asset management frameworks, and collaborating with internal teams, contractors, and industry partners. Your strategic oversight will support whole-of-government infrastructure outcomes that are compliant, future-focused, and responsive to the needs of both urban and remote communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead infrastructure programs across NT regions, ensuring delivery within scope, time, and budget.
- Develop and implement design standards, planning frameworks, and asset management strategies.
- Manage consultants and contracts to ensure quality, compliance, and value for money.
- Oversee operating budgets and resource allocation, balancing delivery with fiscal constraints.
- Ensure compliance with the National Construction Code, safety regulations, and governance policies.
- Build strong relationships with agencies, contractors, and industry partners.
- Lead and develop a high‑performing team focused on safety, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Support whole‑of‑NT infrastructure planning and collaborate with other General Managers on strategic delivery.
About you
You’re a strategic infrastructure professional with:
- Proven experience in project or program management, construction, or infrastructure planning.
- Strong understanding of statutory obligations, safety standards, and sustainability policies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage consultants, contracts, and budgets in complex environments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline.
