Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Manager

About the Role
As our HSE Manager, you'll lead safety across our business—covering insurance repairs, construction, facilities maintenance, and technical services. You'll oversee policies, systems, contractor safety compliance, and incident management, ensuring we're meeting legal requirements and delivering best-practice safety standards.
This role is perfect for someone who loves building relationships, solving problems in the field, and helping teams stay safe, informed, and supported.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, implement, and maintain our WHS/HSE policies, procedures, and safety systems.
* Oversee contractor safety compliance, including licences, insurances, competencies, and safety documentation.
* Conduct site inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments across our projects and job sites.
* Lead incident investigations and manage regulatory notifications when required.
* Work closely with project teams, supervisors, and trades to strengthen safety culture and practices.
* Review SWMS, JSAs, risk assessments, and ensure appropriate controls are in place for all job types.
* Deliver training, toolbox talks, and safety guidance to staff and contractors.
* Monitor safety trends and provide monthly reporting on incidents, hazards, risks, and improvements.
* Support continuous improvements to ensure safe outcomes for workers, customers, and the community.
What We're Looking For
* Strong communication and people skills with the ability to influence safe behaviours.
* Solid understanding of WHS legislation, construction safety, and contractor compliance requirements.
* Experience in a WHS/HSE role (construction, maintenance, trades, or field services highly regarded).
* Qualifications in Work Health & Safety (Cert IV, Diploma, or higher).
* Experience conducting site inspections, audits, and incident investigations.
* Great attention to detail and confidence in reviewing safety documentation.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a fast-paced operations team.
* Comfortable using Microsoft Office and digital safety systems for reporting and record-keeping.
