**About the Opportunity**

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the **Taikurrinthi Aboriginal Liaison Unit**as an** Aboriginal Liaison Officer,**where you will be responsible for:

- Enhancing the health and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in metropolitan Adelaide and rural and remote communities.
- Providing practical support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families for non-medical care needs at the Women's and Children's Hospital (WCH).
- Collaborating with Aboriginal communities and other service providers to offer positive and culturally sensitive support for Aboriginal families.
- Ensuring access to health service information through diverse and culturally appropriate methods of education.
- Coordinating access to various services, including social work, disability services, transport services, and Aboriginal and community agencies.
- Offering expert advice on cultural considerations and specific Aboriginal patient issues to WCH staff.
- Communicating medical and treatment information to patients and families in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Liaising with external service providers to address patients' practical and cultural needs.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Holds or is working towards a Cert IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care Certificate IV (Practice or Community Care): or
- Equivalent Lived experience and a willingness to undertake the Cert IV in Aboriginal Primary Health Care
- Proven ability to engage and interact effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and health professionals from diverse cultures in remote and urban locations
- Ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people to be able to support them in their health care journey and advocate their needs to others.
- Demonstrated high level of communication skills relating to liaising and advocating effectively with and on behalf of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients and their families in a culturally appropriate manner.
- Ability to work independently and manage own time effectively and ensure that deadlines are met
