About the Role
The Business Unit Financial Accountant provides specialist financial accounting support across the Australian Business Units and Assets, ensuring accurate, compliant financial reporting. This role plays a key part in delivering high‑quality budgets, forecasts, and performance insights aligned with corporate standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key aspects of the role:
* Manage financial results for Business Units and communicate outcomes.
* Oversee subsidiary accounting and financial entries.
* Maintain accurate financial documentation and support audits.
Month‑end responsibilities:
* Analyse key drivers of monthly results.
* Review and approve journals and prepare journals as needed.
* Review stock movements, balance sheets and profit and loss.
* Ensure monthly GL reconciliations in Blackline.
* Complete SOX documentation.
Half‑year and annual reporting:
* Support balance sheet and profit and loss analysis.
* Assist with impairment work.
* Act as point of contact for external audit.
* Provide tax analysis as required.
Other responsibilities:
* Complete year‑end subsidiary accounting and coordinate audits.
* Prepare accounting papers and documentation.
* Assist with Governance Review requirements.
* Prepare subsidiary tax workbooks.
* Provide financial accounting advice to Asset Finance teams.
Skills and Experience
Capabilities and proficiency essential:
* Alignment with Woodside Values
* Experience in statutory financial reporting
* Knowledge of AASB/IFRS
* SOX experience
* Strong communication skills
* Commitment to continuous improvement
* Strong financial and commercial analysis skills
Desired qualifications:
* ACA/CPA or equivalent
* 5+ years' finance or accounting experience
* Experience across different accounting regimes, including non‑operated joint ventures
