Job Tasks and Responsibilities
The Coal Quality Engineer provides technical support to ensure accurate coal quality information, effective coal processing performance, and compliance with customer specifications. The role assists in quality control, sampling, data management, and operational optimisation across ROM, CHPP, stockpiles and product coal streams.
Skills and Experience
Skills
* Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
* Skilled in problem solving and coal plant blending processes.
* Competent on full range of Microsoft programs.
* Modelling Software – Maptek Vulcan and/or Minex would be ideal, or similar modelling software
* Database software – Micromine Geobank would be ideal
* Scheduling/Stockpile software – SPRY and Blandr would be ideal
Knowledge
* Effective knowledge of coal production process and theories.
* Effective knowledge of coal quality principles.
* Effective knowledge of coal geology.
* Sound understanding of individual responsibilities in relation to the Coal Mining Safety & Health Act and associated regulations.
Experience
* Highly experienced in the provision of Geological applications within an Open Cut mining environment.
* Sound experience in production coal quality.
* Sound understanding of practical coal mining processes.
Qualifications
* Tertiary Qualifications in Geology or associated discipline.
* S1,2,3 and G2
