The role
Background and Purpose of the Role
The Senior Commercial Manager is a high-performance, results-driven role responsible for driving commercial revenue across some of the most powerful properties in Australian sport including the CommBank Socceroos, CommBank Matildas, Hahn Australia Cup, Australian Championship, Coles MiniRoos, and a range of new and emerging programs. The role focuses on new business acquisition, monetising Football Australia's full property portfolio by identifying and securing category partners who value football's unmatched reach, participation base, and local engagement to help drive the next phase of revenue growth. Working closely with the Head of Commercial Revenue and broader commercial teams, the role plays a key part in positioning Football Australia's National Teams, domestic competitions, and participation programmes as compelling B2C platforms for commercial partners.
Role Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead end-to-end sales activity to secure new partners for Football Australia's commercial rights
- Proactively target and secure uncontracted, high-value priority categories
- Develop and pitch compelling commercial propositions that highlight scale, engagement, and return on investment
- Position domestic competitions as premium B2C commercial platforms leveraging Football Australia's national participation base
- Collaborate with Strategy & IP to ensure assets are innovatively packaged and data-led
- Maintain a disciplined sales pipeline with accurate forecasting and deal progression
- Provide regular pipeline updates and market insights to the Head of Commercial Revenue
- Work closely with the Partnerships team to support successful onboarding and delivery of entitlements
- Contribute to strengthening Football Australia's commercial strategy

Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Proven experience securing sponsorships or partnerships, particularly within B2C or mass-participation environments
- Strong understanding of Football Australia's properties, including its community-based competition ecosystems
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and comfort presenting at executive and senior management level
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate and close multi-year commercial agreements
- Strong sales discipline, forecasting capability and pipeline management skills
- Established network across multiple industries, with particular depth in community-focused corporate sectors
- Experience developing innovative or non-traditional commercial assets within sport
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in business, marketing or a related commercial discipline
- Postgraduate qualifications in sports management or business administration (MBA) (desirable)
- Certifications in data analytics, strategic marketing or commercial analysis (desirable)
