Primary objective
Provide high level executive leadership to deliver the reform of the Northern Territory Electricity Market.
Context statement
The NT Government implementing electricity market reforms that support the lowest cost of electricity balanced against electricity
security and reliability. The Executive Director Electricity Market Reform leads delivery of reform objectives
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide executive-level strategic advice across a range of economic, policy, workforce and industry development matters to
achieve the government's electricity market reform objectives
2. Lead, manage and deliver the reform of the NT Electricity Market and supporting arrangements to achieve the government's
strategic priorities focussed on economic growth and the renewable energy target.
3. Lead the development of high-quality reform briefings, documentation and correspondence, including Taskforce papers,
Ministerial briefs, Cabinet Submissions and industry consultation and information packages
4. Drive a culture of achievement through constructive leadership and pragmatic outcomes.
5. Lead a multi-disciplinary team and work interdependently, exercise initiative, flexibility, political astuteness, problem solving
skills and sound judgement, based on sound engineering, economic and policy principles.
6. Lead and provide high level representation at a range of intergovernmental and industry forums, developing and maintaining
productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to drive reform outcomes.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. An extensive understanding of the local and national electricity industry's technical, commercial and regulatory operating
environment, and emerging developments.
2. Extensive strategic, conceptual and analytical skills with demonstrated success in shaping strategic direction and achieving
organisational outcomes, on time and within budget.
3. Demonstrated leadership and management expertise, including highly developed strategic policy, planning, project, budget and
people management skills, and superior organisational skills.
4. An extensive understanding of the local and national electricity industry's technical, commercial and regulatory operating
environment, and emerging developments.
5. Exceptional written skills and attention to detail, with demonstrated experience preparing Ministerial, Cabinet and executive-
level correspondence, and papers on sensitive and complex subject matters.
6. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to effectively engage and influence a broad
range of internal and external stakeholders.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in economics, engineering, law, public policy or other relevant disciplines.
