TasRail is looking to expand the Operations team and are looking for Qualified Locomotive Drivers to join our team. The primary objective of the role is to deliver freight safely to the intended destination.
* Learn: Build upon your existing locomotive driving skills by adding the route knowledge and driving processes for one of Australia's oldest and most unique railways.
* The team: Join our driving ranks as part of the broader operations team which consists of 110 members across our Rail Operator, Drivers, Supervisory and management teams.
* Balance: Excellent lifestyle roster which allows you to explore all that Tasmania has to offer.
* Location: Positions Available in Burnie and Launceston.
* Remuneration: EA salary position rates + APM + Superannuation + Call ins + Overtime.
Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities
* Drive trains in accordance with rules and safe practices;
* Perform general train inspections;
* Undertake ground shunting;
* Fault-finding and minor repairs to motive power and Rolling Stock;
* Perform driver only operations (DOO) and emergency procedures;
* Receive and action safe working authorities direct from train control. Report to train control when required;
* Drive all forms of traction and trains operating at the depot competently and in accordance with TasRail's safety and operational standards and procedures;
* Apply 'best practice' train management techniques competently to ensure efficient and safe train operation and re-certify as required, to meet its business objectives; and
* Perform remote control operations where/when required.
Qualifications:
* Certificate IV Train Driving (Freight) (Essential)
* Certificate II in Shunting (desired)
* Certificate III in Terminal Driving (desired)
* Recent practical experience (Essential)
* A current motor vehicle drivers' license (Essential)
