About the role
As a Youth Worker, your role involves providing care and support to young individuals in our accommodation or community. You'll work within the values of Anglicare Southern Queensland (Anglicare) to enhance their development, community inclusion, and family relationships while ensuring accommodation stability.
Our Homelessness Youth Services are focused on early intervention, crisis accommodation and support of long-term positive housing outcomes. It is an engaging and rewarding role, perfectly suited for a positive, caring and professional Youth Worker to provide care and support to young people, in out of home care and/or living within at-risk families.
This is a casual role to cover staff leave will work across our Mt Gravatt and Beenleigh services covering day (8:00am – 4:30pm), night/sleepover (4:00pm to 8:30am) and weekend shifts as needed. Flexible availability is essential due to the on-call nature of the role.
Role Responsibilities:
1. Provide holistic care for young people, addressing physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to meet individual needs and align with case plans.
3. Manage challenging behaviours with respect and employ pro-social strategies.
4. Engage youth in purposeful activities to develop life skills and self-worth.
5. Assist in goal setting and support the development of healthy relationships.
6. Maintain accurate documentation and comply with organizational policies.
7. Liaise with external stakeholders, including government departments and support services.
8. Contribute insights from direct care work to program planning.
9. Support youth in transitions into or out of accommodation and services.
10. Foster positive team relationships and contribute to continuous improvement.
About You
11. Confident in your understanding of child behaviour and development, working from a trauma-informed framework.
12. Able to observe and navigate the complex family dynamics often present for young people.
13. Thoughtful and professional in response to crisis situations - working within risk and compliance guidelines.
14. A team player who works in a collaborative manner, but is capable of operating autonomously on a daily basis.
15. A strengths-based leader with ability to be a positive adult role model to young people, assisting them to develop confidence and self-worth
Qualifications and Requirements:
16. Minimum Cert IV or Diploma in Child, Youth & Family Intervention, Youth Work, Community Services, or similar field
17. Current Blue Card (Working with Children)
18. Current Queensland Driver Licence
19. Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
20. Ability to work shifts including days, nights (with sleepover component), weekends, and public holidays.
