The opportunity We are seeking an experienced and culturally grounded leader for the role of Executive Manager, Indigenous Employment and Capability. Reporting to the Director – Organisational Development, with a dotted reporting line to the Deputy Director, Indigenous Science and Engagement, this role leads CSIRO’s Indigenous Employment and Capability function and shapes our strategic approach to attracting, retaining, developing and supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees.

Operating at an enterprise level, you will influence policies, systems and workplace practices to reduce barriers, strengthen cultural safety, and create long-term pathways for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to join, stay, progress and succeed at CSIRO. Working closely with Indigenous Science and Engagement, Indigenous Communications, People teams, leaders and communities, you will help deliver CSIRO’s Indigenous Employment Strategy and contribute to Reconciliation Action Plan commitments.

Your high-level duties will include:

Lead the development and delivery of CSIRO’s Indigenous Employment and Capability strategy and operating model.

Provide strategic leadership to improve Indigenous attraction, retention, development and career progression outcomes.

Influence organisational policy, systems and practices to remove barriers and strengthen culturally safe workplaces.

Build trusted partnerships with communities, leaders and external organisations to strengthen Indigenous employment pathways and outcomes.

Role particulars Location and office arrangements: Open to all capital cities, other locations may be considered. Hybrid working available and flexible work options available.

Salary: AU$163,199 to AU$180,568 per annum (pro-rata for part-time), plus up to 15.4% superannuation.

Tenure and work schedule: Indefinite, full-time. Options for part-time, job-share and flexible work arrangements can be discussed based on the needs of the role and individual circumstances.

Essential Criteria Snapshot

High level cultural capability grounded in lived experience as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

Demonstrated experience leading Indigenous employment, workforce or pathway initiatives and improving attraction, retention and career progression outcomes.

Strong capability to influence senior leaders, policy and organisational systems to strengthen cultural safety and workforce inclusion.

Strong stakeholder and partnership skills, with credibility across communities, external organisations and internal leaders.

Under CSIRO policy, the successful candidate must meet all essential criteria.

Appointment to this role is subject to provision of a national police check and may be subject to other security/medical/character requirements.
