About the Role
As the Head of Department, you will lead a dynamic and successful Health and Physical Education (HPE) faculty that delivers high-quality programs across Junior HPE, Senior Health, and Sport & Recreation, including the school's renowned Football and Tennis Excellence programs and its growing Netball program. With strong student participation and consistent success in interschool competitions, gala days, and representative pathways, this role offers the opportunity to drive innovation, enhance student engagement, and build on the school's proud tradition of sporting excellence.
Your Responsibilities
As the Head of Department - Health and Physical Education, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
* Line manage a large and dynamic team of HPE staff members, including the sports coordinator and Elite Sports Director.
* Lead the quality assurance and implementation of the HPE curriculum from Years 7-12 including the Programs of Excellence for Football and Tennis in these year levels.
* Liaise with external providers to develop opportunities in conjunction with curriculum goals.
* Oversee key operations within the HPE faculty, including approving Sports Excursion Planners, ensuring CARA compliance, coordinating the annual Sports Awards Evening, and managing financial responsibilities.
* Develop positive relationships with parents, surrounding schools and outside sporting associations.
