About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to join our Systems Group, reporting to the IT Operations Manager. This is a hands‐on role focused on maintaining and enhancing critical infrastructure and services that support our business operations. You'll work across a broad technology stack in a modern, cloud‐enabled environment, contributing to the design, deployment, administration, and continuous improvement of our systems.
Working hours
Our team operates between 7am - 6pm (Monday to Friday) on a rostered shift basis, with participation in an on‐call rotation and occasional weekend maintenance. We also offer flexible hybrid working arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide systems and Help Desk support, resolving infrastructure, application, and network issues
* Design, deploy, and maintain server, network, database, and cloud‐based systems
* Administer business‐critical applications and improve incident/problem management processes
* Maintain documentation and support disaster recovery planning and testing
* Monitor system performance, availability, and security, identifying improvement opportunities
* Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to deliver reliable outcomes
About you
You're a proactive and detail‐oriented Systems Engineer with strong problem‐solving skills and a passion for delivering reliable, high‐performing systems. You communicate effectively with both technical and non‐technical stakeholders and enjoy working in a collaborative environment.
Skills & Experience
* 5+ years' experience in a similar role (financial services experience highly regarded)
* Relevant tertiary qualification and/or Microsoft, Linux, or AWS certifications
* Strong experience supporting enterprise systems in cloud environments
Technical environment
* Windows Server, Active Directory, Office 365, Linux, AWS, and SQL
* Networking (TCP/IP), scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell), and DevOps (Terraform, CloudFormation)
* ITIL practices, system security, containerised environments, and telephony platforms (e.g. 3CX, SIP)
AI and modern operations experience
* Hands‐on use of AI tools in IT operations (e.g. log analysis, anomaly detection)
* Experience integrating AI with AWS services (CloudWatch, CloudTrail, IAM, Config, S3)
* Ability to build and maintain AI‐assisted workflows to improve efficiency and incident response
