Make a real impact on the safety and reliability of Townsville's water network.
Join a team that plays a crucial role in keeping our community's water services safe, resilient, and compliant. In this role, you'll provide essential support across the Water team by ensuring we meet all regulatory, environmental, and safety obligations—from dam safety to our everyday operational practices.
You'll help shape and maintain our key risk management systems, lead collaborative risk assessments, run workshops, and develop the clear, practical documents our field crews rely on. Your work will uplift our safety culture and strengthen the reliability of critical infrastructure our community depends on.
What you'll be doing
* Leading the development and maintenance of risk management systems, including high–risk functions such as dam safety and environmental compliance.
* Facilitating risk reviews, group risk assessment sessions, and producing essential Safe Work Method Statements.
* Preparing and updating major documents including Emergency Action Plans, annual safety plans, and Environmental Management Plans.
* Supporting the ongoing maintenance of key certifications (ISO 14001, ISO 9001, NATA 17025).
* Taking an active role in internal and external audits—preparation, participation, reporting, and tracking improvements.
* Overseeing water compliance reporting and monitoring legislative changes.
* Updating procedures, operational documents, and technical instructions to ensure best practice.
* Developing training materials and supporting staff in using risk and compliance systems.
This is your opportunity to contribute directly to the safety, quality, and reliability of essential water services across the region.
What you'll bring
* In-depth knowledge of quality management systems, including experience with ISO9001, ISO14001, ISO17025 or similar frameworks.
* Tertiary qualifications in business administration, risk management, project management, or related fields.
* Extensive experience in process writing, quality control, and risk management within a large, diverse organisation.
* Strong proficiency across Microsoft Office, including Visio, Project, and PDF Writer.
* Advanced skills using document management systems such as Paradigm.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct audits, prepare audit reports, and present findings effectively.
* A current "C" class driver's licence.
