About the Role

We are seeking an Associate Professor Teaching Specialist (Academic) or Teaching Specialist (Clinical Practitioner) to be a senior member of academic staff within the College of Nursing and Health Sciences. The Associate Professor will deliver high‑quality teaching in Nursing across all levels and modes, plan and evaluate content, and may serve as Topic or Course Coordinator.

A key focus is leading curriculum review, renewal and design to ensure courses remain innovative, industry‑relevant and appealing to diverse cohorts, fostering creativity and critical thinking. The role also involves integrating new technologies and contemporary innovations into teaching practice, delivering educational leadership and sharing best practice to promote excellence in learning and teaching.

For the Clinical Practitioner, concurrent engagement in a clinical or community setting is required to support contemporary practice, knowledge and skills. The incumbent will draw upon significant clinical experience to develop industry partnerships for work‑integrated learning, deliver innovative placement models, and provide contemporary, high‑quality placement education through clinical skills training, simulation and service provision.


About You

The successful candidate will be an experienced educator, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia/AHPRA, and maintain membership with a relevant professional association.

You will demonstrate strong knowledge of pedagogical theory and contemporary educational practice within the discipline, and have a proven record of excellence in tertiary‑level teaching, including contributions within professional settings.

You will possess significant leadership experience in developing, delivering, and evaluating innovative learning and teaching initiatives across disciplines, encompassing both classroom environments and professional education contexts. You should have expertise in modern teaching methodologies and a proven ability to design and deliver flexible, technology‑enhanced learning via e‑learning platforms and digital communication tools.

You will have excellent interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to maintain effective relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally.

The Associate Professor Teaching Specialist (Academic) will also have completed a PhD and/or hold relevant nursing qualifications.

The Clinical Practitioner will hold a Doctorate in a relevant discipline or equivalent clinical experience and professional standing in Nursing, and maintain active clinical practice concurrently with this role.
