The role of the Search and Rescue Aircrew Officer is a highly skilled position that requires expertise in various techniques to perform search and rescue, emergency medical services, rappelling, sling loading, passenger transport, and winching operations.
The officer is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of the aircraft's rear cabin during flying operations. This includes adhering to company policies and procedures, conducting safe flight operations, and assisting in the management of the aircraft rear cabin.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain qualifications as an Aircrew Officer (Dual Qualified - Rescue Crew Officer)
* Conduct thorough flight and safety briefings
* Thoroughly know all search and rescue equipment and operate them in a safe and reliable manner
* Complete pre-flight and post-flight inspections and documentation
* Conduct aircraft flight preparation and post-flight husbandry
* Report on operational and maintenance safety deficiencies
* Provide first aid where necessary and perform under demanding conditions
This role requires a high level of physical fitness and ability to work in challenging environments. The candidate must also be able to complete the company fitness test on a periodic basis and be a visible safety champion who will challenge unsafe acts and pursue improvements in safety culture and behavior.
Requirements
* Hold a current CASA Class II medical certificate
* Hold a Flight Radiotelephone Operators License (current)
* Must hold CASA approved hoist endorsement under CASR PART 133/13
* Possess a minimum 500hrs aircrew experience
* Pass Company physical fitness assessments as required
* Hold a Certificate II Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) qualification
* Hold a current Provide Advanced Resuscitation and oxygen (HLTAID015) certification
* Hold a current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certification
