The Bullinah Aboriginal Health Service (Bullinah) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service situated in Ballina, with outreach services to the Cabbage Tree Island community members. Bullinah provides a full range of clinical support services, early intervention and chronic disease management plus a variety of programs aimed at community need.
The Practice Nurse works within a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive primary health care services to the clients of Bullinah Aboriginal Health Service including triage, clinical care, advocacy, and chronic disease management. The practice nurse position is vital in ensuring an effective, supportive environment for Bullinah clients.
This is a 12 month contract with potential to extend.
DUTIES
Provide Clinical Care to Bullinah clients in line with Bullinah Client Journey and Clinical Protocol Documents, including, but not limited to- Medication administration as requested Effectively Triaging clients to determine appointment urgency Perform clinical services including General Observations, ECG, Spirometry, wound management, venepuncture/cannulation, and point of care pathology tests Assist with chronic disease management including the initiation and implementation of Care Plans, Health Assessments, and follow-up services Assist with procedures performed by Bullinah Doctors and Specialists Effectively manage client records including accurate note taking, recalls, and reminder management Maintain Cold Chain and infection control within the clinic Adhere to Bullinah AHS policy and procedures at all times Maintain all accreditation, CQI, and CPD requirements as relevant to the role Perform other duties as requested by management
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential
Ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People Experience in working as part of a multi-disciplinary team; Highly developed communication, interpersonal, planning and organisational skills; Knowledge and understanding of electronic patient information management systems Immunisation accreditation or willingness to obtain Demonstrated experience in caring for clients with chronic conditions Registration as a registered nurse with AHPRA
DESIRABLE
Aboriginality. Bachelor of Nursing. Current NSW 'C" class Drivers Licence. National Police Check Clearance. Working with Children Check Clearance.
