Responsible for delivering ERP service support nationally, collaborating with operational teams and service owners. This role enhances the user experience by continuously improving the service and experience.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Software Engineer to support and enhance a legacy ERP application that underpins critical business operations. This hands‐on, office‐based role works closely with operations teams, business users, and IT to ensure the ERP platform remains stable, secure, and fit for purpose while modernising surrounding systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Application Support & Operations
o Own day‐to‐day operational support of the legacy ERP application
o Monitor system health, performance, and scheduled jobs/batches
o Investigate and resolve application incidents, errors, and service interruptions
o Perform root cause analysis and implement long‐term fixes
* User & Business Support
o Act as primary contact for ERP user queries, issues, and "how do I?" questions
o Triage, prioritise, and resolve support tickets within agreed SLAs
o Document and communicate workarounds and solutions in a user‐friendly way
o Conduct ad‐hoc user training and knowledge‐sharing sessions
* Maintenance & Enhancements
o Implement configuration changes, small enhancements, and bug fixes
o Support data maintenance activities (corrections, reconciliations, imports/exports)
o Assist with periodic upgrades, patches, and security updates where applicable
o Maintain and improve scripts, batch jobs, and integrations with surrounding systems
* Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
o Work closely with operations, finance, supply chain and other business teams using the ERP
o Support the infrastructure, database, and network to resolve cross‐domain issues
o Collaborate with external vendors or support partners where applicable
* Governance, Documentation & Continuous Improvement
o Maintain clear technical and operational documentation, SOPs
o Document known issues, FAQs, and support processes in a structured way
o Identify opportunities to stabilise and streamline ERP‐related processes
o Contribute to risk, security, and compliance activities related to the ERP
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a STEM‐related discipline
Eligibility
* Australian citizen
* Willing to work onsite 5 days per week
Technical Skills
* Experience supporting business‐critical applications, ideally ERP or similar
* Comfort with older/legacy technology stacks (on‐premises client‐server systems, older relational databases, legacy integration tools, batch processing frameworks, or older programming languages such as VB, 4GLs)
* Strong SQL skills for troubleshooting, data analysis, and data corrections
* Familiarity with Windows and/or Unix/Linux servers, logs, and basic system administration concepts
* Understanding of application operations, incident management, and change management processes
* Experience in web coding (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
* Experience in web frameworks (React, Vue)
Soft Skills
* Strong problem‐solving mindset and attention to detail
* Excellent communication skills, able to translate technical issues for non‐technical users
* Proven ability to build relationships and work effectively with operations and business users
* Comfortable with ambiguity in older systems with limited documentation
* Ownership mentality with a focus on reliability, stability, and user experience
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience working with an ERP platform, especially older COTS applications
* Exposure to ITIL‐aligned support processes (incident, problem, change management)
* Experience participating in migration or modernisation projects from legacy systems
* Experience creating runbooks, SOPs, and training materials for application support
