Job Description
* Planning & Forecasting: Lead annual budgets, rolling forecasts and scenario modelling; align assumptions with sales pipelines, workshop capacity and parts inventory dynamics.
* Month-End & Performance: Prepare and present P&L/BS/cashflow analysis; deliver commentary on volume, mix, labour recovery, parts turns, warranty and overhead absorption.
* KPI Dashboards: Build and maintain Power BI/Excel dashboards covering gross margin, labour efficiency, ROCE, inventory health, on-time delivery, and customer experience metrics.
* Variance & Root Cause: Investigate price/volume/mix, rate/usage variances, and operational drivers; recommend corrective actions and track outcomes.
* Pricing & Margin: Support price setting, discount governance, and profitability by product line, customer segment and branch; assess rebates, warranties and campaigns.
* Working Capital: Analyse inventory (turns, obsolescence, DOH), receivables (DSO, aging, disputes) and payables; propose cash conversion improvements.
* Capex & Business Cases: Build investment appraisals (NPV/IRR/payback), including tooling, facility upgrades and fleet; post-implementation reviews.
* Operational Partnering: Be the finance contact for service managers, parts distribution and sales leaders; translate financials into operational plans people can execute.
* Cost & Productivity: Identify efficiency opportunities in labour scheduling, procurement, logistics and workshop throughput; quantify benefits and track delivery.
* Risk & Controls: Strengthen financial controls, revenue recognition, warranty provisions and stock integrity; support internal/external audits and policy compliance.
* Data & Systems: Improve data quality, standardise reporting, optimise ERP/BI processes, and document key models for repeatability and transparency.
* Continuous Improvement: Drive simplification and automation in FP&A cycles, standard costing, and month-end close; champion best-practice analytics.
* Ad Hoc & Projects: Support tenders, pricing events, new product introductions, footprint changes and network optimisation initiatives; present insights to leadership.
The Successful Applicant
You are a commercially minded analyst who thrives working shoulder-to-shoulder with operations. You balance technical rigour with pragmatism, comfortable in the data, effective in workshops, and credible with senior leaders.
Background & Qualifications
* CA/CPA (qualified or near completion) or equivalent finance qualification.
* ~3-6 years' experience in FP&A, commercial finance or financial analysis.
* Exposure to asset-heavy or operationally complex environments (e.g., automotive, transport, logistics, manufacturing, distribution) is advantageous.
* Strong ERP literacy and advanced Excel/Power BI (Power Query/DAX desirable).
Technical Strengths
* End-to-end budgeting/forecasting; scenario analysis; sensitivity modelling.
* P&L/BS/cashflow fluency; working capital analytics; inventory and margin analysis.
* Pricing, product/customer profitability, and capex evaluation (NPV/IRR).
* Ability to build clean, scalable reporting and automate repetitive tasks.
