The Grand Orient at The Melbourne Hotel is searching for experienced and energetic Food & Beverage Team Leader who has passion for great service and ready to work with an enthusiastic team of professionals.
About the Role
Under the direction and guidance of the Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for the seamless delivery of food and beverage service within our Cantonese Restaurant – Grand Orient and in accordance with hotel standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring every guest has a memorable experience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operationally involved in aspects of food and beverage service including greeting and serving guests, setup and pack-down and other duties particular to the requirements of a Chinese Restaurant.
* Support the Restaurant Manager and Supervisor in the day-to-day activities of the Grand Orient Restaurant.
* Provide a superior service and create memorable experience for our guests, responding to requests and inquiries.
* Interact with guests to anticipate and gain understanding of guest needs
* Assist with the service of our signature dish Peking Duck.
* Explain the menu to guests, assisting those with special dietary requirements, needs or preferences
* Tailor the experience to the guest in providing beverage recommendations
* Fully understand menu content, ingredients, and preparation methods
* Ensure accurate receipt of orders and guest requests in a timely manner
* Maintain strong working relationships with the Chinese Kitchen brigade and other hotel departments.
* Cash handling & operating cash register (Micros POS knowledge is an advantage)
What we're looking for
* Be the face of the outlet, greeting guests with energy and an unforgettable welcome
* Preferred experience in the service or Peking Duck is an advantage.
* A passion for food, customer service and interacting with guests.
* Basic knowledge across spirits, wine, and beer/cider.
* Strong communication and organisational skills to build relationships with anyone
* Strong cash handling & POS experience
Essential Criteria
* MUST hold a current WA Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate
* At least two years' experience in customer service (Food & Beverage)
* Excellent grooming and presentation
* Must be available to work afternoon/evening and/or night shifts, work on weekends.
