About the Role

The City is seeking an experienced and motivated individual to undertake the role of Senior Leading Hand – Parks Maintenance. In this position, you will play a key role in maintaining the City's parks and infrastructure assets while supporting and guiding team members in delivering high-quality services to the community.

Key Responsibilities

3. Undertaking daily maintenance of the City's parks, reserves and associated infrastructure assets.
4. Providing supervision, guidance and on-the-job training to Leading Hands, General Hands and new employees.
5. Operating and maintaining plant, tools and other equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
6. Completing required documentation manually and via smart devices, including individual timesheets and work orders.
7. Carrying out turf management activities including broadleaf and selective spraying, fertiliser application and wetting agent treatments.
8. Liaising professionally with colleagues, contractors and members of the public.
9. Undertaking tasks and responsibilities as directed by the Supervisor.
10. Participating in training and development activities as required to effectively perform the role.
11. Ensuring compliance with all City policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
12. Exercising duty of care in accordance with the City's Work Health and Safety policies and procedures.

About You

As a collaborative member of the Parks Maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing Senior Leading Hand duties within the parks maintenance function. The successful candidate will be adaptable, experienced in the parks maintenance industry and capable of working effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

What We're Looking For

13. A Trade Certificate in Turf Management, Amenity Horticulture or equivalent qualification.
14. Experience operating multifunction plant and equipment.
15. Sound knowledge of turf maintenance practices and quality control procedures.
16. Experience using information systems and technology to efficiently manage work tasks and documentation.
17. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
18. The ability to lead a team while also contributing effectively as a team member.
19. The physical capability to undertake manual labour associated with parks maintenance work.
20. A positive and proactive approach to change, with a willingness to work across service units within the City where operationally required.
21. Knowledge of the practical application of Work Health and Safety measures, including hazard identification in parks and reserves.
22. A valid Construction Industry Safety Awareness (White Card).
