Role Overview
We are seeking highly experienced Senior DevOps Engineers to support the delivery, integration, and operation of secure, scalable, and resilient platforms that underpin critical national security systems.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive the adoption and maturity of DevOps practices, tooling, and platforms across ASD environments
* Design, implement, and support CI/CD pipelines for applications, infrastructure, and databases
* Implement and maintain observability capabilities including monitoring, logging, and alerting
* Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using infrastructure‐as‐code principles
* Identify, assess, and mitigate release engineering and availability risks during planning and delivery
* Improve developer productivity, release frequency, and operational outcomes through automation
* Support secure build, integration, and deployment pipelines aligned to Defence security requirements
* Plan, automate, test, and deploy database changes using controlled pipeline processes
* Identify and implement process and tooling improvements across DevOps workflows
* Provide senior technical guidance on integration, build, and deployment practices
* Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and recovery procedures
Requirements
Required Skills & Experience
* Degree in Computer Science, ICT, or equivalent professional experience (5+ years)
* Demonstrated senior‐level experience delivering DevOps and CI/CD solutions in complex environments
* Strong experience with:
o CI/CD pipeline design and automation
o Infrastructure as Code and configuration management
o Systems integration and build automation
o Secure software development practices
* Proven ability to operate in high‐assurance / regulated environments
* Experience contributing to or leading availability management, resilience, and disaster recovery practices
* Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non‐technical stakeholders
* Experience working in Defence, intelligence, or national security environments
* Familiarity with SFIA‐aligned roles at Level 4–5
* Experience supporting systems requiring accreditation, assurance, and operational resilience
* Prior exposure to large, federated platforms or mission‐critical systems
