About the role

We are seeking an exceptional Chief Operating Officer to join the Ord Valley Aboriginal Health Service' team in Kununurra, Western Australia. This is a full-time, permanent position that will play a crucial role in driving the operational success of our organisation and supporting our mission to provide high-quality healthcare services to the local community.

As the essential second-in-command to the CEO, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the entire organisation and provide crucial leadership and direction to the Senior Management Team. In this highly influential executive role, you will ensure continuity of leadership while translating high-level strategic objectives into effective, high-quality operational delivery.

What you'll be doing

* Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organisation, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of all services.
* Lead and Mentor the Senior Management Team.
* Develop and implement robust operational policies, procedures and systems to optimise performance and mitigate risks.
* Collaborate with the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Management Team to develop and execute the organisation's strategic priorities
* Oversee the organisation's financial management, including budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and reporting, to ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations
* Foster a positive, high-performing organisational culture that aligns with the company's values
* Represent the organisation externally and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, partners and the local community

What we're looking for

* Extensive senior-level experience in operational management, preferably within the healthcare or not-for-profit sectors
* Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and driving continuous improvement and accountability
* Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and strategic thinking skills
* Strong financial management and business acumen, with the ability to interpret and act on financial data
* Demonstrates the ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety, including communicating effectively and sensitively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
* Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively
* Commitment to the organisation's mission and values, and a passion for making a positive impact in the community
* Tertiary qualification in management or have extensive equivalent management and administration experience.
* Australian work rights are required at the time of application
