Job Title: Personal Care Assistant
Responsibilities
* Assist clients with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming, dressing and toileting.
* Help clients with mobility by transferring them from their bed to a wheelchair or vice versa.
* Administer medication as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
* Monitor and record vital signs, such as blood pressure and pulse rate.
* Provide companionship and emotional support to clients.
* Assist with meal preparation and feeding.
* Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning, laundry and organizing.
* Accompany clients to appointments, social events and other activities.
* Report any changes in the client's condition to the healthcare team.
Requirements
* Certificate 3 In Aged care or Individual support is required.
* Previous experience in a healthcare or caregiving role is preferred.
* Knowledge of basic medical terminology and procedures is necessary.
* The ability to follow written and verbal instructions is essential.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
* A compassionate and patient personality is essential for this role.
Working Conditions
Personal Care Assistants may work in various settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, and private residences. The work may involve standing or walking for extended periods and may require lifting or moving clients. Additionally, Personal Care Assistants may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays depending on the needs of their clients.
