About the Team

SSI is launching a new service across Victoria, Queensland and NSW to support participants who have been recently released from Immigration Detention to re-integrate into communities, equipped with the skills and support to manage their psychosocial and health needs, and gain sustainable employment and accommodation.


About You

The Senior Mental Health Social Worker, will be part of a unique program across Victoria, Queensland and NSW providing coordination, advocacy and support within a multidisciplinary team delivering assessments and therapeutic interventions to participants of SSI's new Case Assessment Clinical Team (CACT) part of our Status Resolution Support Service (SRSS. The Senior Mental Health Social Worker.


Responsibilities

* Determining the nature of participant's situation by interviewing participant, assessing and accessing, medical, psychological, emotional and social information and making on-site visits.
* Working with the multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive treatment plans to address offending risk and mental health concerns
* Planning, coordinating and implementing treatment plans to help participant address current struggles

* Attend case conferences and advocate for participants
* Undertake a range of casework support responsibilities (e.g. maintaining accurate and relevant participant records) to assist in reporting, information sharing and legal requirements
* Support participants in crisis, including implementing safety plans; working with mental health services and family members.
* Supporting participant to develop and maintain independent living skills


Essential Criteria

* Completed a four-year undergraduate degree or a two year Master's degree accredited by the Australian Association of Social Workers
* Ability to build and maintain professional helping relationships
* Ability to relate and communicate with diverse population and groups
* Accredited Mental Health Social Workers (AMHSW) have acquired additional specialist training and skills in assisting people with diagnosed mental health conditions.
* Experiencing working with clients from multicultural background; working with offenders preferred
