Our national government team is experienced in operating within the government environment, and understands this is shaped by factors such as complex policy and legal frameworks and a culture of consultation, accountability, public scrutiny and high visibility.We are currently looking to recruit an Associate to join our Commonwealth Government practice, based in Canberra, with a focus on Government Litigation and Administrative law.
As an integral member of the team you will be:Acting for clients in the ART, Federal Court and High Court in administrative law litigationAdvising on all aspects of information law, including drafting FOI decisions and policiesAdvising clients with respect to all aspects of legislation, including advising on complex statutory interpretation issuesAdvising and developing policy and procedure documentsAssisting administrative decision-makers to effectively discharge their functions, and assisting with the review of matters in the ART, Federal Court and the High Court of Australia.Requirements2+ years PQEA strong desire to work on complex, high profile litigationA sound foundation in Administrative law, litigation, privacy and statutory interpretationExcellent written, drafting and verbal communication skillsWe are proud that Norton Rose Fulbright in Australia has been recognised as an Employer of Choice for Gender Equality by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) as well as a gold tier employer for LGBTI Inclusion through the Australian Workplace Equality Index.
