Senior Occupational Therapist Orthopaedics

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work in a vibrant Occupational Therapy department within the orthopaedic team. This role will involve opportunities to work across both elective and trauma services.

You will be required to effectively and creatively carry a full case load without direct supervision whilst developing supervisory and project / service delivery skills. Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, Division and Occupational Therapy department.

You will be required to build on your existing orthopaedic and trauma knowledge and skills and support the Team Leader to expand and develop this service across elective and trauma.

Main duties of the job

Through working in a static orthopaedic role, there will be opportunities for learning non-clinical, managerial and leadership skills. The post holder will be expected to demonstrate excellent communication skills and alongside the multidisciplinary team, facilitate efficient discharges from the acute hospital.

You will be required to effectively and creatively carry a full case load without direct supervision whilst developing supervisory and project / service delivery skills.

Working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, Division and Occupational Therapy department.

- or the Trust has agreed that they will Sponsor you as a Skilled Worker and you will complete your studies within 3 months of the anticipatedstart date of employment

Person Specification

Qualifications

- Occupational Therapist registered with Health and Care Professions Council
- Degree of Diploma of Occupational Therapy
- Evidence of Continued Professional Development
- Willing to undertake fieldwork educators training
- Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapists
- Member of Specialist Section / Special Interest Group

Experience

- Experience in an Orthopaedic setting as an Occupational Therapist
- Teaching experience
- Varied clinical experience
- Evidence of student supervision
- Experience of audit
- Experience of working in either NHS or social care
- Experience of supervision of Occupational Therapy Assistants and students
- Experience of giving presentations
- Experience of working in an acute care hospital
- Experience of group work
- Experience of risk management

Knowledge

- Positively promotes occupational therapy
- Evidence Based Practice / research process
- To be competent in all stages of the OT process
- Working knowledge of a range of clinical conditions
- Knowledge of government documents and legislation relating to healthcare, social care, housing and education

Skills

- Close team working in a variety of settings
- Good interpersonal skills
- Effective prioritisation and management of workload pressures
- Able to manage caseload independently
- Moving and handling of patients
- Ability to deputise for Occupational Therapy Team Leader
- Flexible
- Self-motivated

Additional Requirements

- The ability to understand and behave at all times, towards patients, visitors and colleagues according to the Trust values of Safe, Kind, Excellent.
- Able to work weekends or "on-call" as needed
- Ability to travel with or without patients throughout the district on a regular basis
