Scientific Laboratory Assistant
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our scientific laboratory team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the routine receipting and processing of specimens, including the operation and maintenance of analyzers. Key responsibilities include pre- and post-analytical specimen handling, identification and prioritization of urgent specimens, filing and storage of specimens, data entry, assisting scientists in the laboratory as required, learning processing requirements for different sample types and tests, staying up to date with processing updates, responding to results, sample requirements, and general queries, and identifying and resolving problems at the pre-analytic stage.
The ideal candidate should have experience in specimen processing and data entry, excellent customer service and communication skills, the ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment, the capacity to work independently and as part of a team, an understanding of the importance of following procedures accurately, a willingness to adhere to departmental and organizational policies, and previous laboratory experience and knowledge of medical terminology (desirable but not essential).
