About The Role
Join Swinburne University of Technology as our next BMS and HVAC Specialist, where you'll play a pivotal role in ensuring our campuses operate safely, efficiently and sustainably. In this position, you'll oversee the performance, maintenance and renewal of our Building Management Systems (BMS), building controls and HVAC infrastructure across multiple sites.
Working within our Campus Assets, Facilities and Sustainability team, you'll apply your knowledge to guide system upgrades, troubleshoot complex issues, lead contractors and in-house staff, and drive energy-efficient operations that support Swinburne's emissions reduction targets. You'll also contribute to the development of maintenance strategies, design standards and operational improvements for smart, future-focused campus environments.
If you are an experienced BMS/HVAC specialist - trade-qualified or technically trained, with strong diagnostic capability, project delivery experience, and a passion for innovation, safety, and sustainable asset management, we'd love to hear from you.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
Extensive operational and supervisory experience in a large multi-faceted organisation, with proven ability in facility maintenance services supervising human and physical resources
Working knowledge of current OHS, building, essential services and related regulations
Knowledge of complex/smart buildings, automated building management systems, fire panels and work request systems
HVAC and BMS principles and their application to the maintenance, repair and installation of HVAC and refrigeration equipment, systems, and devices.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems
Advanced knowledge of BMS systems
Excellent written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills including report writing

Qualifications
A degree or trade qualification with subsequent relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise in Mechanical Engineering Maintenance or related subject; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. (Essential)
Experience or certification with complex HVAC and other systems (Essential)
Relevant certifications or licenses in HVAC (Preferable)
A current Victorian driver's license (Preferable)
