About This Role
We are seeking a Field Service Technician (contract) to deliver installation, commissioning and maintenance of Collision Avoidance Systems across mining operations. The role involves domestic and international travel, onsite customer engagement, and hands-on technical work. You will work independently and as part of project teams to ensure systems are installed safely, commissioned correctly and maintained for high availability.
The Field Service Technician is responsible for the safe and effective installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance of Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS) on light and heavy mining equipment. This role supports both large-scale site rollouts and smaller individual equipment installations, and requires flexible travel to customer sites both domestically and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
* Install, wire, configure and commission CAS equipment on mobile plant and vehicles.
* Validate installations with testing, calibration and commissioning checks to ensure operational readiness.
* Act as the onsite customer representative, coordinating with client contacts and subcontractors during project delivery.
* Conduct scoping and site surveys to assess equipment, power and network requirements prior to installation.
* Produce and maintain accurate project documentation, including installation notes, test reports and handover packs.
* Provide customer training on system operation, basic troubleshooting and maintenance tasks.
* Deliver on-demand technical support and fault diagnosis, escalating complex issues to the technical support team as required.
* Perform planned maintenance and ad-hoc repairs to ensure high system availability.
* Conduct installation quality audits and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
* Maintain EHS compliance on site; identify hazards and apply controls to ensure safe work practices.
* Support demobilisation and equipment recovery when projects complete.
* Be available for short-notice travel and roster changes to meet operational requirements.
Requirements
Qualifications (desirable):
* Trade qualification in Auto Electrical or similar
* Post-trade electrical/electronics certificate
* Working at Heights and other site safety certifications
Experience & Skills
* Mining industry site experience (mandatory).
* Experience with HV or LV auto-electrical systems (desirable).
* Previous site supervision or trade leadership exposure (desirable).
* Basic networking (LAN/WAN)
* Strong fault-finding and technical troubleshooting capability.
