Join Our Growing Team
We're seeking an experienced Paste Fill Engineer to join our dynamic technical team. The Paste Fill Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, monitoring, and optimization of paste backfill. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of paste backfill to mined-out stopes, supporting ground stability and enabling sustainable ore extraction.
Your key responsibilities
* Provide engineering expertise, supervision and support to paste operations
* Develop and maintain paste backfill distribution plans aligned with the mine schedule
* Manage the timely execution of stope fill sequences and ensure compliance with geotechnical and operational requirements
* Develop and maintain paste infrastructure, reticulation designs and flow models
* Monitor daily paste fill operations, including paste plant operation, pumping, and delivery to stopes
* Prepare forecasts, plans, cost analysis and execution schedules for paste fill delivery
* Integrate paste schedules with the short, medium, and long-term planning requirements of the operation
* Coordinate with mining, processing, and maintenance teams to ensure continuous and safe backfilling
* Oversee paste quality testing (slump, UCS, binder content) and ensure compliance with specifications
* Prepare technical reports, maintain accurate records and contribute to monthly production reviews
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives in paste plant performance, stope fill efficiency, and cost reduction
* Promote a strong safety culture and actively participate in incident investigations relevant to paste activities
What you'll bring
* Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or similar
* Minimum 8 years of mining industry experience with a broad range of underground mining technical and management skills, with experience in paste backfill systems
* Significant experience in underground mining practices, underground infrastructure needs, project execution and management practices
* Experience and knowledge of paste plant operation, paste reticulation, and geotechnical principles
* Proficiency in mine planning software (e.g., Deswik) and data analysis tools (Excel, MS Project, Power BI)
* Advanced computer literacy and business software knowledge (Microsoft Suite)
* Sound understanding of the WA Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Work Health and Safety Regulations
* Proven leadership and communication skills, including contractor management
* Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with capacity to handle complex situations
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and collaboration skills
* Natural ability to create collaborative relationships and guide teams to reach company objectives
Essential requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or similar discipline
* Current \'C\' Class Western Australian driver\'s license
* Demonstrated commitment to safety with ability to promote and enforce safety culture
* Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
* High level of emotional intelligence and professional disposition
