Pharmacy Services Manager for NT Hospital from 2nd February for 6-8 weeks + possible extension.

Systems in use in the pharmacy
* Merlin Dispensing Software, MOSAIQ.
Areas of the hospital where work will be carried out
* Mainly in dispensary but services extend across the hospital in the Paediatric, Oncology, Medical and Emergency Department units.
Team size / structure
* One pharmacy manager, one clinical pharmacist and two pharmacy assistants.
Hours of work per day
* 8am to 4:21pm.
Is the role Monday to Friday only
* Yes.
Main duties
* Dispensary Management: Oversee supply, PBS compliance, and system processes.
* Clinical Services: Deliver medication advice and reviews across wards (e.g. renal, oncology, paediatrics, emergency).
* Team Supervision: Lead, mentor, and manage clinical pharmacist and technicians.
* Education: Provide training to pharmacy staff and education to nursing/medical staff.
* Quality & Safety: Drive audits, reporting, medication safety and service improvements.
* Strategic Input: Represent the pharmacy in meetings, forums and hospital-wide initiatives.
Specialised areas of pharmacy experience required
* Oncology, Haematology, Paediatrics, Renal, Vaccines, all types of outpatient specialist clinics.
Level of involvement with clinical consultations and patient care
* Direct involvement with consultants in general medicine, emergency, obstetrics, nephrology and surgical services.
* Collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
* Advising on complex regimes and medication safety.
Supervision of junior staff or pharmacy technicians
* Yes, daily supervision, delegation of tasks, coaching junior staff.
Interaction with patients or healthcare teams
* Direct engagement with patients for counselling and education.
* Close collaboration with doctors, nurses, and allied health staff.
Additional information
* Applicants must be capable of working effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and be flexible in managing competing demands, shifting priorities and shared responsibilities across clinical and dispensary services.
Accommodation and Travel
* Return Travel: Reimbursement is available for return travel, capped at $1,200.
* Accommodation: On-site or off-site accommodation may be available, though availability varies throughout the year. In some cases, only shared accommodation is offered – typically in a 2-3 bedroom unit or house – with other Allied Health / Nursing / Medical staff of the same gender. While we prioritise on-campus accommodation for locums without a vehicle, it is not guaranteed.
* Vehicle Access: The hospital maintains a pool of vehicles that staff can book for personal errands such as grocery shopping, gym visits, or coffee funs. These vehicles are bookable via our internal system and can be used up to 2-3 hours at a time, with a travel limit of 30km from town.
