Hays Recruitment is seeking an experienced APS6 Senior Program Officer for a labour hire opportunity within a Commonwealth Government clinical policy and governance environment. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to meaningful, nationally significant programs focused on mental health, wellbeing and service quality outcomes for the Australian community.
Your new role
This position sits within a clinical policy and governance function, supporting mental health and wellbeing programs through evidence based, client centred and trauma informed approaches. The role contributes to policy, program and operational initiatives that support high quality service delivery and continuous improvement.
You will work closely with senior leadership and a range of internal and external stakeholders to support strategic priorities, program development and evaluation activities.
Key Responsibilities:
As an APS6 Senior Program Officer, you will:
* Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support organisational and whole‑of‑government objectives.
* Contribute to clinical and operational program and project initiatives from development through to implementation and evaluation, under the guidance of senior leadership.
* Prepare and review high quality written material including advice, briefings, papers, submissions, procurement documentation and correspondence for internal and external decision making forums.
* Support innovation and continuous improvement by developing and maintaining business processes aligned with organisational policies and procedures.
* Participate in program evaluation and project management activities, contributing to strategic directions and quality improvement initiatives.
* Provide informed feedback to support the ongoing development of clinical policies, procedures and practice.
* Apply cooperative and safe working practices consistent with APS Values and professional standards.
* Demonstrate an understanding of mental health service delivery and operating environments.
* Design and analyse business processes, including the development of procedural documentation and training resources.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
* Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management capability
* High level written and verbal communication skills suited to APS environments
* Experience contributing to policy, program or project work within complex service delivery settings
* Sound analytical and process design skills
* An understanding of mental health, wellbeing or health related service environments (highly regarded)
Eligibility & Security Requirements:
* Australian citizenship is mandatory under the Public Service Act 1999
* The role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline AGSVA security clearance.
