Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Grade 3 Senior Pharmacist - Paediatrics and Obstetrics to join the Pharmacy Department.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne's rapidly growing outer north.
Services Are Provided Through Our Six Main Campuses
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.
About The Role
The Senior Pharmacist - Paediatrics and Obstetrics provides clinical leadership and delivers specialist pharmacy services across Northern Health's Women's and Children's Services, including clinical responsibility for the Neonatal Unit at Epping. The role ensures excellence in patient care through evidence-based practice, service improvement, and effective risk management.
This position holds governance responsibility for the paediatric and obstetric pharmacy service, including oversight of staff competency, credentialing, supervision, and professional development. Working closely with the Deputy Director of Pharmacy - Clinical, the Senior Pharmacist monitors, evaluates, and advances service delivery while contributing to the strategic objectives of the Pharmacy Department.
As a Pharmacist Team Leader, the role ensures pharmaceutical review activities comply with departmental requirements, professional standards, accreditation, and legislative obligations. The position requires flexibility to meet operational demands, including after-hours, weekend, public holiday, on-call commitments, and travel across Northern Health campuses and partner organisations.
This position is fixed term full time until April 2027 with monthly Accrued Day Off.
To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have
* Minimum 5 years' hospital pharmacy experience, with extensive expertise in Women's and Children's services
* Highly developed organisational and self-management skills, with ability to prioritise competing demands
* Demonstrated leadership of teams and services, including supervision and staff development
* Proven experience in service improvement, redesign, evaluation, and innovation
* Strong commitment to evidence-based, patient-centred care
