A leading multi model logistics business is looking for a Transport Assistant to join their Milton Keynes depot. The role will be a development role aiming to develop the right candidate to be a Transport Planner, ideal for an ambitious candidate looking to develop a career in Transport.
Responsibilities
* Assist with the day to day running of vehicles to ensure prompt and on time deliveries to customers.
* Update transport systems to track vehicle, trailer and job status to meet delivery timings.
* Ensure vehicles and trailers are serviced and MOTul before being used.
* Assist drivers in managing their hours and break requirements to be compliant at all times.
* Assist drivers and customers with queries and any issues that arise during a route.
Qualifications and Attributes
* Excellent communication skills; confident; able to work under pressure and willing to learn.
* As this is a trainee role, open to different industry experience or someone who has recently completed their education.
* Confident IT user, ideally across all Microsoft packages.
Location, Hours and Salary
The role will be based at Ipswich depot. Working patterns vary by arrangement:
* Option 1: 4 on, 4 off shift pattern (6am – 6pm). During training, Monday – Friday on a regular day shift. Salary £22,000 – £25,000 per annum. The company offers a friendly working environment, additional company benefits, and training to become a planner within the team.
* Option 2: Monday to Friday on a 2-week rotation (Week 1: 7am–5pm; Week 2: 8am–6pm). Salary £18,000 – £21,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus company benefits and opportunities for career and salary growth within the first 12 months.
