About The Department
With over 1,200 schools spanning across the state of Queensland, the Department of Education is one of the largest public sector providers, supporting all state school students to meet their educational needs. The department are seeking applications from motivated Registered Nurses to join great teams of multi-disciplinary professionals.
A Role with Purpose
State schools registered nurses play a pivotal role in connecting schools with health specialists to create a safe supportive environment for students with health needs. Using advanced critical thinking and clinical decision-making skills, they provide tailored services to primary, secondary and special schools breaking down barriers to enhance wellbeing and bridging the gap between health care and education.
Other Responsibilities
* Form strategic partnerships with schools, health professionals and families as part of a multi-disciplinary team
* Build school staff health support confidence through in-service education and training scenarios
* Support capability building, curriculum planning, resource development and school improvement initiatives
* Develop evidence informed methodology to effectively implement across Queensland state schools
* Develop individual and emergency health plans to support students in education settings
* Consult stakeholders to enhance professional decision making and nursing practices
* Maintain and build safe, quality, effective nursing professional networks
* Form partnerships with other health professionals to improve collaborative practice
* Analyse policies, procedures, legislation, codes and standards to continuously improve service delivery
* Provide High level consultation and ensure students, parents/carers, and staff are part of the decision making at every stage
* Actively participate in professional development and reflective practice across a multi-disciplinary sector that values your contribution
