Research Assistant role at University of Melbourne. 
This is a post-doctoral level position at the Bio21 Institute and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, focused on investigating how the medically important parasite, Toxoplasma gondii, establishes chronic infections in humans. The position offers access to cutting-edge metabolomic, metabolic flux, and modelling approaches, and collaboration with world-class facilities and experts. 
Responsibilities 
- Conduct Cutting-edge Research: Develop and execute research programs aligned with NIH grant aims, focusing on parasite metabolism and differentiation. 
- Utilise Advanced Technologies: Operate state-of-the-art mass spectrometry instruments and develop new techniques for studying parasite metabolism. 
- Collaborate Across Disciplines: Engage with research teams, metabolomics facilities, and modelling groups to advance project goals. 
- Contribute to Scientific Output: Prepare publications, research proposals, and reports, while assisting in training research students. 
Qualifications 
- Hold a PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related field. 
- Experience in metabolomics, lipidomics, proteomics, or computational biology. 
- Familiarity with data processing, informatics software, and modelling approaches. 
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and collaboratively. 
- Ability to learn new techniques and meet project timelines. 
- Experience in PC2 laboratory environments and handling pathogenic microorganisms is desirable. 
- Advanced computer skills in R/Python and multi-omics analysis. 
What we offer 
- Salary range: A$108,156.00/yr – A$116,094.00/yr; pro rata for part-time with 17% superannuation.
