Our Digital Division delivers and operates digital capabilities across AEMO, ensuring we meet obligations in all jurisdictions and markets.
Within Digital, the Energy Operations – Digital Systems department manages essential power system applications for the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). This role sits in the WEM Operations Solutions team, which is pivotal in supporting WA's energy future.
About the Role
As a critical member of the WEM (Wholesale Electricity Market) Operation Solutions team, the Senior Tester will involved in the planning, execution and delivery of testing across multiple areas. This includes supporting major programs, lifecycle projects, and critical operational activities. This role requires exceptional technical skills to perform the role of a trusted technical advisor and a subject matter expert on testing requirements, test planning, test execution and results management.
(This initial 12-month fixed-term role is based at our Perth office.)
Role responsibilities
Engage with SMEs and internal stakeholders to ensure test strategy is aligned with the implementation of critical power system operation software solutions. Ensure project and/or software release test plans align with the requirements of the business with respect to functionality, process, security, and compatibility.
Make sure project and/or software release test data suites align with the coverage requirements of the test plans and test strategies.
Verify test environments are configured to allow completion of functional, regression and user acceptance testing.
Ensure project and/or release test plans are executed, and issues are logged and tracked in a defect management system. Conduct manual and automation testing of applications (UI, API, database).
Work with Project Managers and Project Leads to deliver software solutions and work closely with integration and development teams to make sure project timelines are met whilst balancing the appropriate levels of test coverage versus risk.
Experience and Knowledge
Extensive experience in testing software, including design, execution and defect management.
Demonstrated technical knowledge and analytical skills, with experience in a senior testing role.
Strong understanding of the principles and practices associated with the testing of information technology projects.
Experience in development of test strategies and plans in IT projects and successful execution of these plans.
Experience in leading IT projects and demonstrated working knowledge on estimating and scheduling.
Experience engaging with Business Analysts, Product Owners and Developers to analyse requirements and understand complex systems.
Experience in power system/power market operation or power system planning preferable.
Education/ Certificates
Tertiary and/or postgraduate in engineering, mathematics, science, information technology or a similar analytical discipline desirable.
