Alzheimer's Research Australia (ARA) is entering a period of significant growth, expanding our clinical trials portfolio, strengthening industry partnerships, and advancing our integrated Memory Hub model.
At this critical stage, we are seeking two exceptional Non-Executive Directors to strengthen governance, support strategic decision-making, and ensure long-term sustainability:
Finance / Commercial
A qualified accountant (CA/CPA) with current practice and strong financial and commercial acumen.
Legal / Commercial
A qualified lawyer with current practice and expertise in corporate/commercial law, partnerships, and complex agreements.
The Opportunity
These roles are central to maintaining the organisation's financial sustainability and ensuring that funds are stewarded responsibly and effectively in support of our mission.
Working closely with fellow Directors and the Executive, you will contribute to:
* Strong financial governance, including oversight of budgets, financial performance, audit, and risk
* Strategic decision‐making to support sustainable growth and long‐term impact
* Ethical, transparent, and values‐led governance
* Oversight of complex funding streams, including donor, grant, and research income
Directors will also contribute through Board Committees, including Finance, Audit & Risk, Governance, and Investment.
What We Are Looking For
We are particularly interested in individuals who bring:
* Strong financial or legal expertise, with the ability to navigate complex organisational and regulatory environments
* Experience in governance, audit, risk, and strategic planning
* The ability to interpret performance, identify risks and opportunities, and guide long‐term direction
* Independent judgement, integrity, and a collaborative, values‐driven approach
* An understanding of, or interest in, the intersection of research, healthcare, and commercialisation
* Board experience is desirable but not essential, however a GAICD qualification or equivalent would be well considered.
Why Join ARA
* Contribute to a purpose‐driven organisation at the forefront of Alzheimer's research
* Be part of a collaborative, high‐performing and mission‐aligned Board
* Play a direct role in shaping the future of research, clinical care, and impact
* Support an organisation where science and care come together to make Alzheimer's a distant memory
* This is a rare opportunity to contribute to one of Australia's leading Alzheimer's research organisations, at a pivotal point in its growth.
