Job Title:
Engineering Division Manager
Job Summary:
The Engineering Division Manager will oversee the daily functions, operations, and activities of the Engineering Division. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university and five years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience, including two years of managerial or supervisory experience.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage the Engineering Division through effective planning, staff management, and resource allocation;
* Manage projects and review activities to achieve the City's development strategies;
* Assure that engineering services are in compliance with all laws, policies, and regulations;
* Develop and standardize procedures and methods to improve and continuously monitor the efficiency and effectiveness of assigned programs, service delivery methods, and procedures;
* Supervise and monitor the work of consulting engineers; verify and approve contractors' work estimates, payment requests, and change orders;
Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university;
* Five years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience, including two years of managerial or supervisory experience;
* Registration as a Professional Engineer by the California Board for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors is required;
Preferred Skills:
* Knowledge of city organization, operations, policies, and procedures;
* Principles and standards of municipal civil engineering programs;
* Techniques for effectively representing the City in coordination with governmental agencies, community groups, and various business, professional, educational regulatory, and legislative organizations;
