About the business and the role
We are a single surgeon orthopaedic practice focused on providing the highest standard of patient care.
We are looking for a medical receptionist / personal assistant who is efficient, competent, trustworthy, caring, reliable, flexible and a team player.
The position is a full - time position, working full days on Mondays to Fridays. Saturday morning and after hours work may be occasionally required. The position is supported by two part - time staff.
We are a small team led by a supportive surgeon.
We are interviewing now with a view to a starting date in January
Job tasks and responsibilities
Providing patient care in person, on the telephone and on-line
* Taking bookings for appointments
* Taking bookings for surgery
* Helping with patient inquiries and directing medical questions to the surgeon
* Assisting the surgeon with the triaging process
Office administrative tasks including printing letters, ordering stationary and supplies
Billing for appointments and for surgery
Organizing operating lists
Sharing and handing over tasks to other administrative staff

Excellent interpersonal skills
Professional manner
Clear in spoken and written communication
Honesty, reliability and flexibility with working hours
Attention to detail
Efficient
Team player
Ability to recognize own limitations, admit to mistakes and to ask for help when required
Familiarity with medical terminology
Familiarity with Medicare item numbers
Good computer skills - e-mail, Microsoft Office
Experience with medical software is desirable - Clinic2cloud, Genie
