About the position
The City is seeking a Systems Accountant to support the Oracle Cloud Financial System through configuration and delivery of systems, reports and metrics documentation, training and processes, ensuring the integrity and data stewardship of the City's financial systems.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong financial management skills, willing to enhance and develop capabilities around Oracle Cloud Systems financial support.
You will work alongside the current Systems Accountant and develop Oracle Cloud financial support skills.
Key Accountabilities
Work alongside the current Systems Accountant by acting as the system advocate and subject-matter expert, being point of contact for internal and external customers, addressing and responding to enquiries.
Act as point of contact for Oracle Cloud Financial system-specific audits and for financial management audits, responsible for provision of transaction lists, trial balance report, and other system-specific information.
Support super-users in analysing and resolving system issues, user access and audit logs, maintaining the integrity of the financial system.
Build and maintain effective relationships with users, technical staff, stakeholders and vendors for the administration of the Oracle Cloud Financial system, ensuring compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs), defect resolution, release management, system performance, access and support.
Provide training, expert advice, guidance and coaching to users, technical staff and stakeholders to build workforce capability and capacity in using the Oracle Cloud Financial System.
Monitor, analyse and report on Oracle Cloud Financial system performance and linkages with other corporate systems, ensuring appropriate action is taken to anticipate, investigate and resolve problems in systems and processes.
Maintain the Chart of Accounts consistent with Accounting Standards, Accounting Framework and the City's business requirements.
Lead Oracle Cloud Financial System upgrades and enhancements.
Identify, develop, document and maintain current processes associated with the efficient and effective use of the Oracle Cloud Financial System.
Administer the Oracle Cloud Financial System, including configuration and maintenance activities, users, security, controls, roles and hierarchy.
General Accounting Responsibilities
Undertake financial analyses, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of information.
Demonstrate financial modelling capability.
Provide advice and guidance to customers and stakeholders on financial and strategic accounting matters, in accordance with relevant policies, procedures and accounting practices.
Prepare reports in functional area or activity for management and other stakeholders, tailored to the needs of audiences.
Support Finance Business Partners and the Coordinator of Financial & Strategic Accounting in regular business support activities and any ad-hoc tasks including leave covers.
Provide information for audits and implement recommendations, ensuring service delivery is timely, effective and efficient.
About you
University degree such as commerce or business with a major in Accounting.
Qualification with an Australian professional accounting body such as CPA or CA.
Qualification in a relevant discipline such as Information Systems is desirable.
Professional training or certification in SQL data query tools such as SSRS, Power BI is desirable.
Relevant experience in a similar role is desirable.
Experience utilising Financial Management Systems including Financial Modelling is an added advantage.
Experience in the efficient utilisation of information systems and technology is required.
Knowledge of Oracle Cloud is desirable.
Knowledge of process improvement methodologies, ensuring an organised and measurable approach to process and business improvement is required.
