This role is critical to enhancing pest surveillance, grower engagement, and banana biosecurity resilience.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct surveillance activities on commercial banana farms and some residential properties for Bunchy Top diseased banana plants and other biosecurity risks in accordance with standard procedures and safety protocols.
* Assist with plant destruction, decontamination, and digital tools.
* Record accurate data and ensure timely reporting.
* Monitor equipment and stock levels; request supplies as needed.
* Travel within banana-growing regions to conduct fieldwork.
Successful applicants will be trained to effectively manage the detection and management of Banana Bunchy Top Disease. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a strong work ethic. They will be responsible for maintaining accurate records and collaborating with a team to achieve project goals.
