We're seeking an Energy Solutions Specialist to drive innovation in our System Design division. This pivotal role requires a strong background in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.

About the Opportunity

As Australia's energy landscape undergoes significant transformation, driven by the rapid shift to renewables and electrification of transport, industry, and more, we need a dedicated professional to help shape the future.

The Onboarding and Connections team leads the end-to-end process of connection and registering new generators into the National Electricity Market (NEM). With over 160 GW of new generation expected to come online in the next 30 years, this is an exciting time for a motivated individual to contribute to this vision.

In this key position, you'll work on integrating a mix of technologies, including wind, solar, hydro, battery storage, and hydrogen. Collaboration with stakeholders such as network service providers, developers, investors, manufacturers, consultants, government bodies, regulators, and industry experts will be essential.

Main Responsibilities:

* Lead the management of large-scale, technically complex projects from inception to commercial operation, providing expert guidance and support to regional teams.
* Build and enhance relationships with clients through proactive issue resolution and delivery of practical solutions, promoting continuous improvement in technical processes.
* Maintain transparency and data-driven decision making, ensuring all decisions are clearly documented and made with pragmatism at their core.
* Provide high-level technical advice and lead decision making across key areas such as performance standards, power system stability, system strength solutions, registration, and project commissioning.
* Support the growth of technical staff and stakeholders through mentoring, coaching, and knowledge sharing, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

You will contribute to regulatory advancements that support the integration of large-scale renewable energy projects into the Australian electricity market, driving the transition to a cleaner energy future.

Key Requirements

* A relevant tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or other related field.
* Proven leadership in delivering medium to large-scale, technically complex projects with a pragmatic approach.
* Strong expertise in power system modelling tools (e.g. PSSE, PSCAD) with the ability to interpret study results effectively.
* Well-developed experience in managing generator connection processes and resolving performance issues within the NEM.
* Solid understanding of the electricity industry, including NEM operations, generator behaviour, network constraints, and commercial aspects of large-scale infrastructure projects.

This role offers flexibility to be based in various locations. Be part of Australia's journey towards a more sustainable energy future, focusing on what matters and being yourself in a high-trust environment.
